Women’s Confederate Building

So the big surprise investigation location is now revealed – Women’s Confederate Home (AKA: AGE) building in Austin, TX!!

Before we get started, I have to mention how amazingly rich in history this building is. And EVERY person (even a separate back building tenant) allowed us to investigate their areas. Talk about selfless. It was mind boggling to be in a space that huge alone ALL night and ghost hunt. WOW!!! Thank you AGE!!! And thank you to the building manager, Chris, who has been so wonderfully kind to work with.

The building was built in parts, beginning in 1908. I recommend you click on the link above and check out the history – it’s both touching and fascinating. One of the co-founders actually passed this past Janurary, Willie Kocurek Passes. These generous and passionate people put everything on the line to make this facility what is is today. Apparently, their efforts were not in vane. Today it stands proud, helping adults improve the quality of their later years, and leasing many rooms for non-profit organizations who give back to the community every day.

And last night was the big night – Friday the 13th! We had the entire premise to ourselves ALL night so we made the most out of it – arriving late evening and staying until 6am!!!! Woo Hoo!!

As part of our investigation, we like to gather reported stories in/around the building. The manager, Chris, along with our good friend, Bridget, who worked there for 7 years, and the current director, Joyce all kindly gave us tours on more than one occasion, sharing all the haunted stories and seemingly paranormal activity (hot spots!) throughout. Bridget found NAMES of women who had died while living IN the building (thousands did) and we were able to use that as leverage when trying to communicate. We compiled a folder full of history, reports, names, and stories that had been passed on through the years. Our friend Larissa printed out the history behind Friday the 13th itself – SPOOKY! And to make everything even more in sync, a woman in our print outs had died ON Friday the 13th and been buried on the 14th.

Teaser: boiler room had bone chilling madness going on (thank god the guys were on that one)!!! And look out for ‘what lies beneath’ – it made us ALL scream!!!

The night was interesting, to say the least. Forget the shot list that took me 2 hours to make. We roll Aether Paranormal style, and when our juices start flowin’ the beautiful chaos begins! Having a foundation or guidelines is traditionally the only way to role when making films. But this work is different. You have to be in the moment, and go where you feel the energy is calling. If you deny those feelings, you might as well go home and get back to a day job. It’s a lot more steady and dependable than this line of work. When you’re on an investigation it’s literally like a box of chocolates!!!!! You never know…

Happy Valentines Day. More later as we review/reveal our haunting evidence! Trust me, you won’t want to watch this next one alone. I just have a feeling…
